MediDrink OpLoad
MediDrink OpLoad is a food for special medical purposes for the preoperative dietary management of surgery patients.
In surgery patients, 66.7% of non-diabetic patients experience hyperglycemia after surgery, and this hyperglycemia is associated with infectious and noninfectious complications and mortality and is independently associated with septic complications.
Preoperative fasting from midnight is unnecessary in most patients. Oral preoperative carbohydrate treatment (instead of overnight fasting) the night before and 2 hours before surgery should be administered to surgery patients. Drinking carbohydrate-rich fluids before elective surgery improves subjective well-being, reduces thirst and hunger and reduces postoperative insulin resistance.
It is safe for patients (including diabetics) to drink carbohydrate-rich drinks up to 2 hours prior to elective surgery.
MediDrink OpLoad is a clear, carbohydrate-rich fluid intended for preoperative carbohydrate loading to decrease the risk of postoperative insulin resistance and subsequent postoperative complications, to attenuate postoperative muscle mass depletion, and to improve patients’ well-being.
MediDrink OpLoad is gluten- and lactose-free.
